what the world eats

I've just ordered a book through Amazon.com called Hungry Planet: What the World Eats.

It is a beautiful looking book from Peter Menzel and Faith D'Aluisio. I bought Menzel's previous pictorial books Material World: A Global Family Portrait and Women in the Material World about ten years ago from the bookshop at the United Nations in New York, which also featured a photographic exhibition in the foyer.

Here are some photos from What the World Eats (courtesy of Time and CNN).

My 'larder' would look totally different, and would only have a small amount of processed food (mainly yoghurt, margarine etc), and certainly no pre-prepared meals and minimal junk food.

****************
I have had a very lazy day today. It has felt strange after being away for the last three weekends in a row to return to some normality like walking to the shops for supplies.

I paid a quick visit to Klaudia who lives a few streets away for a cup of coffee and to say hello to that white cat Kettles.

The house still needs cleaning and tidying up.

I still miss Keiser a lot.
